Research and planning: Film poster analysis 2

I am going to analyse this poster for its effectiveness:

First the things that are effective:

  • All the important people involved in creating the film are listed at the bottom of the poster this means that many peoples names have been stated and this would help in the marketing of this film as if anyone saw a previous film by one of these people and liked it,they make be encouraged to go and see this film too.
  • The road map over the top of the main image is effective as it gives some insight into the films plot, you can read into what it could be about therefore this intrigues you to watch the film.
  • The fact a tagline is used is very effective as this gives something other than the title to recognise the film by. therefore not only the name but the tagline of the film will stick in your head, making you wonder what it means.
Now the ineffective:

  • The colour scheme is ineffective as it is mainly a red block colour, this makes it difficult to see the text and makes the photo seem unrealistic when this film is in a realistic genre.
  • The title is in two separate colours this means that the title does't flow and therefore may cause people to forget it, this is never effective as the purpose of a poster is to make sure the film name sticks in your mind.
  • There is too much empty block colour space, they haven't laid out this poster to use its space wisely. This impacts on the overall look of the poster making it ineffective.
